Hi guys, dolls, fairies and snowflakes! (And little tin soldiers too!)

I want to announce a new festive contest based around the song 'The Twelve Days of Christmas'.

Taking the lyrics of the traditional 'Twelve Days of Christmas' carol as inspiration, entrants are to create a piece of work in any medium except literature (do not wish to see spoof text versions, as there are hundreds of them around) based on one or more verses or the entire song. A maximum of one entry per verse per artist will be allowed, making a total maximum of 12 entries per artist (as in 12 different pieces / verses, not just the same verse re-worked).

HOW TO ENTER:

Work can be in any medium except written, i.e. photography, painting, line art, photo-manipulation, animation, illustration, digital, craft, textile, drawing... anything you want!

Note me with 'Twelve days contest' and include a thumbnail / link to your work, specifying which verse(s) it portrays.

Please include a link to this journal or news article with your own artist comments.

If stock has been used, the original author must be credited! If you have used stock and not credited the author, the work will be removed from the contest.

Work entered must be a newly created. Works existing before the launch of this contest (8th Nov 2009) do not qualify for entry.

Once your entry has been received, it will be placed into a 'Twelve Days' collection, and will remain there until judging is complete. The winners will then be notified by Dec 25th.

By entering this contest, you are granting me a non-exclusive licence to display the work entered within the DeviantArt website.

CRITERIA:

Work will be judged using the following criteria:
* Use of theme
* Representation of the selected verse(s)
* Originality
* Technical quality


PRIZES:
There will be three prizes awarded by judge (myself) as well as a bonus prize awarded to the most popular piece as selected by a poll of dA users.

1st Prize
1 Month Journal Feature of The Winner
$5 (or equivalent) Deviant Dollars

2nd Prize
2 Week Journal Feature

3rd Prize
1 Week Journal Feature

Popular Vote
Winner with most votes will receive 1 Week Journal Feature. In the event that the poll winner is also a winner selected by judge, the poll prize will be served in addition to the main prize.
